NA LI

Q. You had a bit of a weird match. Several times you had the lead and you squandered that lead. How did you explain that?
NA LI: I mean, first match easy or tough. Nothing between. I mean, also Grand Slam; everyone is fighting a lot.
Of course I was play her last time in Melbourne easy to win, but that didn't mean anything in this time. Also different surface, different area. You know, at least like four month already. Everyone was push a lot.
So I still happy I can win today. It's tough match. Also a little bit of cramping end of the match, but hopefully she couldn't see that. (Smiling.)

Q. You had a great run in Australia. Did that raise the level of expectations in your country? Do you feel that's more pressure on you to perform well?
NA LI: I mean, I was happy what I'm doing Melbourne. Also, if you are player, of course everyone have the pressure, but I like the pressure.Yeah, I mean, I was happy what I'm doing now. Yeah. Not bad.

Q. Since Madrid, you had work with Michael Mortensen.
NA LI: Yeah.

Q. How did the link between you first of all come up?
NA LI: I mean, he's nice guy first, and also positive person. You know, I was working with him-- we start like in Madrid, so Madrid, Rome, and here. I think we are working not bad. (Smiling.)
Yeah, every time if we do something, he always find a positive way to tell me what I should do. Also, he always trust me a lot. He give me a lot of room. I can do some exercise.
So yeah, I think I will happy to work with him.

Q. How did you two guys meet? He hasn't been on the tour for a couple of years.
NA LI: My physio was contact with him because they know like at least 20 years. My physio was contact with Michael, because I have to ask if he want to come back to the court or not. Yeah, finally he said, Yeah, I like you, so...
But I didn't have a contract with him. For the player not easy to find a good coach, so I just say maybe we should try first three tournament until French Open. So after here, then we decide continue or not.

Q. In the middle of the second set, your husband left from the stands today. What happened there?
NA LI: Nervous. Yeah, I mean, you know, player different of people was watching. So if you're playing you know what you should do. But for the people sitting in the player box, they didn't know what to think. Some things are tough.

Q. How famous are you in China? For example, can you go to a restaurant and not be recognized or can you not walk in the street without people asking for your autograph? Just trying to understand how popular you are in China.
NA LI: I mean, this is tough. (Smiling.) I mean, yeah, I always try to do the same. I never want to change my life. I still go with the restaurant I go before.
Also, I was walk with friend in the street, of course many people, Oh, she's tennis player or something. But like the children or young people, they come ask autograph or something. But they still give me a lot of room. I can do something for myself.
So how famous, I'm not sure. You should ask the media from China.

Q. Are you like basketball player famous? If you would, rate yourself famous from one to ten.
NA LI: (Smiling.)

Q. Don't worry.
NA LI: For the tennis player, we always travel a lot through the world. We didn't always back to China after season. So I not stay China for a long time. If I was back to China, of course I have to take time with my family and friends.

Q. So when you arrive to the airport, do you have to sign a lot of autographs?
NA LI: No, because people don't think about I'm in the airport, so, yes, I just go away.I mean, if I didn't walk with my husband, nobody know who I am.

Q. This year it's very open here, given we don't know how fit Kim is going to be and Caroline has never won a Grand Slam. Can you remember a tournament like that where it's so open anyone could win? Even the world No 23 could come through and win it.
NA LI: We're in French Open. I think every tournament is open. Yeah, because right now I was feeling every player have a chance to win a Grand Slam.
But, you know, I always like to say, Easy to say; tough to do. If you want to win a Grand Slam you have to win seven matches. It's not easy. Here you have against everything: opponent, weather. So, yeah
